Born in 1895 as William Boyd in Cambridge, Ohio, the character of Hopalong Cassidy came to fruition in the 1935 movie “Hop-a-long Cassidy.” He and his horse Tooper quickly thrilled children and adults alike as he reprised the role in 66 movies through 1948 and also in a television show in the 1950s.

In 2007, Boyd’s home, affectionately named the Hoppy House, went up for auction, and just a couple days later, the same company also held a memorabilia auction.

A 1950s set of guns, holsters and spurs went for $2,100 in 2008.

Bonhams sold a beautiful car once owned by Boyd. It was a 1933 Duesenberg Model J Torpedo Convertible and sold for a whopping $1,437,000!
